The Mekong Delta is the region in southwestern Vietnam where the Mekong River approaches and empties into the sea through a network of distributaries; encompasses a large portion of south-western Vietnam of over 40,500 km2 (15,600 sq mi). It’s a maze of rivers, swamps, and canals, with floating markets, Khmer pagodas, and villages surrounded by rice paddies. Boats are the main means of transportation here, making it a unique and relaxing travel destination.
